As a follow up to the very productive and popular first Breeder Day that took place on 8th February 2014, Nottingham University Vet School have announced the agenda for a second follow-up event, which is to take place on Saturday 6th February 2016.

Agenda 9.00-9.30am Welcome and refreshments for the delegates, at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, University of Nottingham. – Mark Dunning/Malcolm Cobb
9.30-10.40am Small group discussion sessions for delegates to discuss the perceived clinical problems in the breed, their own concerns and experiences within the breed and problems they have encountered in their own pets. – Facilitated by staff from the Veterinary School
10.40-11.00am Tea, coffee and refreshments
11.00-11.30am Owner presentations of their experiences with the breed – particularly dogs suffering with conditions that were unusual and of interest
11.30-1.00pm Short – 15-minute presentations with 5-minute questions, from clinicians and researchers at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science to include: • An overview of the current projects running with the IWH and Deerhound groups – Mark Dunning • Unravelling the genetics of canine osteosarcoma – how can this improve the future for dogs with the disease? – Nigel Mongan • A review of the genetics of canine cardiac disease – Catrin Rutland • Does heart testing improve outcomes in breed related heart disease – Malcolm Cobb 1.00-2.30pm Lunch and informal discussions Tours of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science
2.30-4.00pm (Including break for Tea, coffee and refreshments) Group discussion to prioritise the questions and topics generated from the morning’s small group session. To review these along with those projects currently running with each breed group. Wrap up and plan for the next 2 years
