Experienced Kennel Assistant / Manager required for busy giant breed Kennel.
An unusual but rewarding job working with Irish Wolfhounds at a 5* fully licensed kennel, also accredited by the Kennel Club.
We also run a heart testing scheme and charitable trust to promote health and welfare standards in the breed. We are one of the largest IWH kennels in the UK.
The Job:
Cleaning kennels, runs, animal care, grooming, feeding, handling, managing rotations and assisting with the heart testing and breeding program.
Experience of kennel work is essential.
The Nitty Gritty:
Must be willing to work in all weathers and some duties can be physically demanding, so any applicant should bear this in mind
You will be expected to adhere to all training, health and safety and animal welfare procedures. Induction training will be provided on all aspects of kennel management.
Start at 7.30am and finish at 12 midday, 3-5 days a week.
There will be some weekend and bank holiday cover expected and also the opportunity to do night shifts on occasion (night shifts are optional).
Pay is £11 per hour. This may increase dependant on qualifications held - such as grooming, first aid, NVQ level or equivalent in animal care / kennel management / dog training.
This is a long term position for the right person. Cleanliness, reliability and kindness to animals are key attributes. If you don’t like the idea of cleaning up dog mess, this is not the job for you!
Experience in grooming, ringcraft or training is desirable. Further training is available to someone wishing to make this a career.
